Environmental Funders Network

Website design, website build

The Client

The Environmental Funders Network (EFN) is a UK-based organization dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and scale of philanthropy for environmental and climate causes. By connecting funders, sharing knowledge, and fostering collaboration, EFN helps its members address critical environmental challenges and drive positive change. The network serves as a hub for learning and strategic alignment, supporting philanthropic efforts to safeguard the planet for current and future generations.

The Brief

The Environmental Funders Network were looking to revamp their website as part of a huge rebranding exercise. The creatives at MakerChange Studio had designed a stunning new brand identity and invited me to collaborate with them to plan and develop a new website to compliment it.

The EFN’s website was big, with hundreds of blogs, videos, events and publications. One of the main goals with the new site was to showcase this wealth of content for visitors in an engaging and user-friendly way. The new site would also need to make it easy for EFN’s four primary audiences to navigate and find the information that’s relevant to them and convert these visitors into members of their invaluable programmes. Additionally, EFN needed a more robust and flexible content management system, giving them the freedom and confidence to maintain the site themselves.

What I Did

Inspired by the stunning branding MakerChange Studio had put together, I worked closely with MakerChange and the Environmental Funders Network’s team to design and develop a bespoke WordPress theme and content management system. Versatile custom blocks make it easy for EFN’s team to create rich and engaging new pages and posts.

With the wealth of content the EFN had published, data migration had to be planned and carried out carefully. I developed a workflow that allowed each piece of content to be easily assessed, conformed and imported into the new content management system in a way that didn’t leave any of it feeling like ‘legacy’ content – even the oldest blog posts feel fresh, with up-to-date styling and design patterns.

The Result

The Environmental Funders Network’s new brand and website tells their story and engages their audience. Website visitors can effortlessly browse their extensive catalogue of fascinating videos, blogs and publications and more easily access the information that’s relevant to them.

A new event management tool allows them to promote all kinds of in-person and online events, including an integration with TicketTailor to handle ticket sales.
