hi there.

I’m Andrew Viney, a freelance web designer, web developer, photographer and all-round techie nerd.

I work with my clients to create modern, easy-to-use, search-engine friendly websites for all kinds of businesses.

I’m most experienced with HTML, CSS (and Sass), WordPress, Elementor, Divi, WooCommerce, Squarespace and Oracle APEX… but I pick-up new tools fast so can apply my hand to most development environments.

If you’ve got an idea you think I could help with, please get in touch. I’d love to have a chat about it.

The Iris Project

I was very privileged to be asked to design and develop a website for The Iris Project, an organisation providing funding and mentorship to young people running environmental projects around the world.

The Iris Project needed a website that clearly communicate important information to potential applicants and accept donations, as well as provide a way for young people to submit their application for The Iris Prize, online or offline.

Working in partnership with MakerChange Studio and using the visual identity by Katie O’Rorke, I developed a customised WordPress-based CMS that powers a bespoke front-end theme.

Making Stuff Better

Making Stuff Better is growing and adapting quickly and they needed a online presence that showcased the powerful coaching services they offer to schools, colleges and educators around the world.

I worked closely with the MSB team to streamline their content and create clear, effective customer journeys. With dedicated landing pages for each of their hero products, eye-catching testimonial and a flexible and easily customisable events system, their new website is a space they’re proud to point existing and prospective clients to.

MakerChange Studio

MakerChange is a different kind of creative studio, focussed on projects that provoke positive change, and they wanted a website that highlighted that.

Using their branding guidelines as a jumping-off point, I created a modern-feeling, bold and exciting website that puts MakerChange’s differentiator front and centre. I also wanted the website to feel dynamic and interactive, tempting visitors to delve deeper, explore the extensive and broad portfolio of work and ultimately, to get in touch with them.

Zero Carbon Campaign

Zero Carbon Campaign recently ran a hugely successful campaign calling on the UK Government to take action to address the carbon crisis. They’d collected over 1000 passionate comments from celebrities, companies and members of the public, and wanted an interesting way to showcase them.

I worked with New Kind Studio to create a microsite that would serve as a permanent home for all these comments, as well as attract further support from the public and Government. The goal was to provide a simple but engaging site that made each comment feel as unique as the person who made it. The back-end was built on WordPress with a customised editor, allowing them to easily add and alter the appearance of comments. The front-end uses a bespoke theme, including animation and filters, to create a rich and immersive experience.

Equitable Coaching

I recently had the pleasure to work with Claire Stewart-Hall to create a new website for her equality and diversity-focused coaching company.

Equitable Coaching wanted a new website that would convey their professional but approachable image. It was important that clients be able to book calls and face-to-face meetings directly on the website – this helped increase conversion rates and made bookings easier to manage. I integrated Calendly with WordPress and Elementor to create a content-heavy website that’s not only easy for visitors to navigate, but also simple for Claire to maintain and make changes to in the future.

Duchess Media

I worked with the marketing pros at Duchess Media to implement their exciting new branding on their website. Based on a style guide and assets from their designers, I was able to completely refresh their existing WordPress / Divi site, giving visitors an experience that communicated the company’s bold image and expertise.

I also worked with Duchess to migrate their site to a new web host and added case studies, which enable them to showcase their portfolio to prospective clients, in a way that fit with their brand and identity.

Little Green

Little Green is a sustainability-focused house plant seller based in Bristol.

I’ve worked with Little Green since the launch of their company and provided all of their online services, from the website and e-commerce to photography, copy-writing and administering their email and cloud software accounts on G Suite.

When the pandemic struck and social distancing measures went into effect, Little Green quickly pivoted away from physical market stalls and focused on online sales. The online shop I’d built (on WordPress and WooCommerce) allowed us to quickly add new products and delivery options, track stock levels and provide important information to keep their customers up-to-date.

Lauren Tobia

Lauren Tobia is a children’s book illustrator. She wanted a simple, easy-to-update website to showcase her work and provide a way for potential clients to contact her for commissions.

The website was built on WordPress and Elementor, allowing me to get the site up-and-running quickly and allowing Lauren to easily make changes and add new work in future. Lauren loves that her new site enables her to present her beautiful and extensive catalogue of work in a way that’s easy to use for both fans of her work, and potential clients.

Making Stuff Better

Making Stuff Better provide professional coaching to leaders and educators.

They wanted a website to showcase their team of professional coaches and the work they do with organisations all over the world. The website was built on Squarespace, allowing me to develop the site quickly and iterate on new ideas and designs on-the-fly, utilising bespoke graphics from illustrator, Hannah Broadway.

MSB’s size and ambition grew rapidly and they soon wanted to expand their services and the scope of their website. I developed a secure client area , several visitor flows for the company’s various services, as well as a blog and in-depth team bios. I also produce and edit the MSB podcast which helps promote the company across new channels.
